Production began shortly afterward, with the π3 entering the Chinese market as one of the company’s flagship models.

Production Years
Production: 2018–2022
Although the π3 was introduced to the public in 2017, series production began in 2018. Sales continued through early 2022 before production ended when Yudo experienced severe financial difficulties and temporarily halted manufacturing operations.
First Generation (2018–2022)
The Yudo π3 remained a single-generation vehicle throughout its production life. Rather than receiving a complete redesign, it underwent incremental updates and equipment revisions.
Designed as a five-door subcompact crossover SUV, the π3 featured modern styling with a relatively clean appearance that reflected the design trends of contemporary electric vehicles. The front fascia incorporated a closed grille typical of battery-electric vehicles, while its raised ride height and practical five-passenger cabin appealed to urban families.
The π3 utilized a front-mounted electric motor driving the front wheels through a single-speed reduction gearbox. Depending on the model year, power output ranged from approximately 74 horsepower (55 kilowatts) on early versions to 121 horsepower (90 kilowatts) on later models. Most production models featured lithium-ion battery packs offering an advertised driving range of approximately 249 miles (401 kilometers) under the Chinese testing cycle.

The Premium trims offered additional convenience equipment, upgraded interior materials, and exterior styling enhancements, including optional two-tone paint.
2020
The π3 received another update for the 2020 model year.
The primary trim level became:
- E-SHOCK Thermaltake End of Life
Despite its unusual name, this version primarily represented a revised equipment package rather than a major mechanical redesign.
Updates included:

- Slight equipment revisions
- Updated battery specifications
- Improved charging capability
- Minor interior improvements
The vehicle continued using the 121-horsepower electric motor and front-wheel-drive layout introduced the previous year.
2021
The 2021 model year saw very few changes.

Larger manufacturers introduced newer platforms with improved battery technology, longer driving ranges, and more sophisticated infotainment systems. As consumer expectations evolved rapidly, Yudo struggled to maintain competitiveness.
Sales steadily declined after 2018, eventually contributing to the company’s financial crisis.
End of Production
In early 2022, Yudo suspended production following severe financial difficulties and bankruptcy proceedings.
Later in 2022, Juneyao Group acquired Yudo and restarted limited vehicle production. However, the company chose not to resume manufacturing of the π3. Instead, Yudo eventually shifted its attention toward newer electric vehicle projects, leaving the π3 permanently discontinued.
Legacy
Although the π3 enjoyed only a short production run, it represents an important chapter in the history of China’s emerging EV industry.
The vehicle illustrates the rapid pace of innovation—and competition—that characterized China’s electric vehicle market during the late 2010s. Many startup manufacturers introduced capable electric crossovers, but only a handful survived the industry’s consolidation.
For Yudo, the π3 served as one of its defining early products and demonstrated the company’s engineering capabilities during its formative years.
Future Outlook
There are currently no announced plans to revive the Yudo π3. Since Juneyao Group assumed ownership of Yudo, the company has focused on newer vehicle programs rather than updating discontinued models.
Nevertheless, the π3 remains a noteworthy example of the first wave of Chinese electric crossover SUVs. As China’s EV market continues to mature and expand globally, vehicles like the π3 are likely to be remembered as pioneering products that helped accelerate the transition toward affordable electric transportation.
